Sarees represent Indian culture in it’s every form of draping. For every Indian woman, saree is more of an emotion, albiet a tradition. Right from an young age, we fancy draping our Maa’s (mother’s) sarees in imaginary occasions or just for the fun of it. Such was the story of my childhood. I with my friends and sisters, would drape Maa’s sarees and dance our hearts out.
After my marriage, as in a Bengali family, sarees became an integral part of my wardrobe. Although not perfect, but whenever I used to style a saree, I would receive compliments and praises. This, somehow, transitioned into an obsession of sorts. My confidence grew and so did a sliver of hope that someday I would be able to build a small business around sarees. Years passed and I kept myself busy with my children and household. The right time never seemed to come. But the dream never faded.
However, one fine day, while having a random conversation with my husband, I realised that there’s never a better time than the present to pursue what the heart wants. And so, by the grace of God and my family’s blessings (not to forget my husband’s constant support) I bring to you, “Duggaa by Naina”
